Prof. Dr. Ursula Rauch-Kröhnert

Thromboinflammation and hemostasis

As a cardiologist and diabetologist, I work at the renowned German Heart Center of the Charité, Campus Benjamin Franklin, in the Clinic for Cardiology, Angiology and Intensive Care Medicine. My clinical focus is on the treatment of patients with arteriosclerotic diseases such as heart attacks, thrombosis and diabetes. In addition to managing the personnel and teaching department, I am also responsible for the scientific orientation of the clinic as a research officer.

In the field of research, I am working intensively on new approaches to the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases caused by thrombosis. During a four-year research stay at the Cardiovascular Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, USA, I studied the significance of diabetes and other metabolic diseases for the development of thrombosis, both experimentally and clinically.

As head of the clinical study center at our clinic, I am fascinated by being able to describe the preventive effects of new metabolism-influencing drugs and thrombosis-inhibiting preparations on cardiovascular disease genesis. The desire to discover therapeutic concepts tailored to each individual to prevent the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases inspires me and connects me with the mission of the Friede Springer - Cardiovascular Prevention Center to place cardiovascular prevention at the center of our research and science.
