Prof. Dr. phil. Paul Gellert
I am Paul Gellert, a dedicated health psychologist, renowned professor of social and behavioral gerontology and deputy director of the Institute for Medical Sociology and Rehabilitation Science at Charité.
I deal with exciting questions around health-conscious behavior, social exchange and healthy aging.
I am particularly interested in the psychological and social factors that help us to prevent or deal with long-term illnesses such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease.
As part of my research work, I have conducted various studies with the aim of improving the mobility and physical activity of older people. I have applied findings from social psychology and motivational research. I also analyze extensive data to better understand the development of diseases in different social classes.
I was awarded the Margret and Paul Baltes Prize of the German Society for Gerontology and Geriatrics and the Schaalma Prize of the European Society for Health Psychology for my outstanding work.
