Johanna Porst

I am a sports scientist and have been working in the Department of Sports Medicine at Charité- Universitätsmedizin Berlin since 2018. As a student assistant, I was already able to gain valuable experience in dealing with patients from the fields of competitive, recreational and rehabilitation sports and discover my passion for sports medicine research.

In addition to medical performance diagnostics, my work focuses on teaching and research into the fundamentals of anatomy, physiology and biochemistry in the context of sport with or without specific clinical pictures.
The versatility of the application of sports medicine diagnostics and research is particularly appealing to me. The positive influence of sport and exercise on the prevention, therapy or rehabilitation of various illnesses represents a promising field of research and application with constant new developments.

Due to the broad spectrum of sports medicine, interdisciplinary work is an essential prerequisite for me and an absolute enrichment in my daily work.

To ensure that research findings do not just remain in theory, they must be made available to individuals and, above all, made applicable. Accordingly, translating the findings into meaningful and sustainable implementation is an important component of the FS-CPC's work.

Every person has different prerequisites, needs, challenges and experiences. My job as part of the "Vascular Biology, Inflammation, Sport" research team is to adapt to this individuality, specify it through diagnostics and then find the right approaches. We want to use our multidisciplinary expertise and comprehensive diagnostic parameters to help people lead a healthy and active lifestyle. With this approach, I am pleased to be able to participate in the FS-CPC, to exchange ideas with the other researchers, to work together with them and to contribute to a holistic approach to cardiovascular prevention.
