Aafreen Saiyed

Public Health Education Specialist

While currently pursuing a Master's in International Health at Charité Universitätsmedizin, I am focusing on global health challenges and prevention strategies. My public health journey began with hands-on research at Seth G.S. Medical College, where I contributed to studies in addiction, rheumatoid arthritis, and gastroenterology, and co-authored articles on medical ethics, laying a strong foundation in research integrity and ethical healthcare practices.

My expertise in cardiovascular disease was shaped through my work with the South Asian Health Foundation (SAHF), where I co-developed guidelines for managing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease among ethnic minority groups, and later expanded through my contributions to the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI).

As a freelance medical writer for Edanz, I specialized in translating complex medical data into clear, engaging narratives for international clients. This experience honed my skills in creating educational content, scientific manuscripts, and research summaries, which I now apply to my public health education initiatives at the FRIEDE SPRINGER – Cardiovascular Prevention Center. I also collaborate with the Department of Gender Medicine, focusing on gender-specific health education initiatives.

I am passionate about health literacy and deeply committed to fostering a deeper understanding of cardiovascular health. At FS-CPC, I support the setup of the education center, including the development of interactive content and community engagement programmes focused on cardiovascular disease prevention and management. My commitment to health literacy drives me to create accessible, culturally relevant educational resources, aiming to empower individuals and foster a more informed, health-conscious society. My work at FS-CPC involves not only creating educational materials and campaigns but also building strong partnerships with healthcare providers, educators, and community organizations. Together, we aim to reduce the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases through preventive strategies and early detection. By creating accessible, culturally relevant health education, I strive to make a lasting impact on the well-being of the communities we serve, ensuring that knowledge translates into meaningful health outcomes.
