In networked research modules, we investigate the development of cardiovascular diseases in a holistic and multidisciplinary manner.

Our research:
Comprehensive. Measurable. Transformative.

Cardiovascular diseases develop over decades. The various risk factors work together in ways that make their combined effects stronger and affect each person’s health differently. We therefore conduct comprehensive research into potential risks at the earliest stage, measured through innovative procedures, state-of-the-art technology, and valid scientific methods—long before a heart attack or stroke occurs. Our team examines individual measures within various research modules through longitudinal observational and intervention studies to determine who benefits most. These findings lead to personalized therapies that are practical for everyday life and help maintain heart and vascular health for the long term.

Heart Health Study

The study is the "heart" of our mission. Up to 5,000 test subjects between the ages of 18 and 70 will be comprehensively examined in order to investigate risk factors before the first symptoms occur. However, patients with existing cardiovascular diseases are also invited to take part. After the diagnosis, customized treatment options are developed.

By agreeing to take part in the Heart Health Study as a volunteer, you are helping our research team to gain new insights into the prevention of cardiovascular disease. In the long term, we would like to invite you repeatedly at regular intervals and accompany you scientifically.

Join our mission to prevent cardiovascular diseases like heart attacks and strokes through this study.

TAVI Procedure for Aortic Valve Replacement Compared to the Surgical Method

Prof. Ulf Landmesser, MD, Director of the FRIEDE SPRINGER - Cardiovascular Prevention Center, summarizes findings from the PARTNER 3 study in an editorial for the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). The editorial underscores the urgent need for novel strategies to prevent the progression of valvular heart diseases, particularly aortic valve stenosis, a prevalent condition.

Role of Phenylacetylglutamine (PAGln) in Prognosis for Heart Failure Patients

In previous studies, PAGln was associated with the presence of heart failure in patients and showed potentially negative effects on heart muscle cells in experiments. In this study, we investigated whether PAGln levels in the blood have any significance for the prognosis of patients with stable heart failure.
