Dr. med. Umidakhon Makhmudova
Fat metabolism
I am currently completing my specialist training in the Department of Cardiology at Charité Universitätsmedizin and am part of the "Lipid Metabolic Disorders" research group at the FS-CPC. In addition, as a clinician scientist, I can dedicate my work to our patients as well as to the exciting world of medical research and thus use the latest scientific findings for my patients. My scientific work focuses on the prevention of cardiovascular disease and unraveling the mystery of how fats are processed in the body.
My work so far has been focused on preventing the recurrence of heart attacks in people who have already had a heart attack or stroke. I am very proud to have been recognized by the German-Austrian-Swiss Society for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease (DACH) for an outstanding project on the prevention of heart disease. I find it particularly interesting how differently people react to drugs that reduce the fat content in their blood. It motivates me to find new ways to customize therapies and thus shape the medicine of the future.
As a certified lipidologist from the German Society for Lipid Metabolic Disorders, I combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience. This combination allows me to gain a deep understanding of the subject matter and inspires me to constantly look for new ways to improve heart health.
