Do we practice what we preach?

The report examines the structural establishment of cardiovascular prevention measures in 13 European countries. During the study period from 2011 to 2021, almost all countries took measures to prevent cardiovascular disease, but to varying degrees and with different strategies. Some countries have developed national plans, while others have relied on individual laws. There are differences in implementation, for example in relation to tobacco advertising, taxation of unhealthy foods and investment in health structures. The training of doctors in the field of prevention and rehabilitation also shows variations.
The report emphasizes the urgency of improved international cooperation and the need to continuously collect up-to-date data on cardiovascular disease prevention.
Finally, it recommends the development of comprehensive national plans to address risk factors such as obesity and physical inactivity. Regular reviews and adjustments of the effectiveness of these measures are also important.
